Vestibular Migraine / Migrainous Vertigo - what helped you?

Posted , 23 users are following.

Hi I've just been diagnosed with Migraine-associated vertigo after 10 months of daily symptoms. The main ones are dizziness and imbalance, but I do also get headaches and weird neurological-type symptoms like numbness, slurred speech, confusion etc. I can not currently work it is so bad.

Has anyone overcome this? If so, what helped you? So far, I have been unable to tolerate Amytriptiline (massively exacerbated the dizziness, plus caused very bleak thoughts) nor Propranalol (caused faintness) even at their very lowest doses. I've just ordered myself every vitamin under the sun that has shown any promise with migraine, because I have to wait a few months to see a neurologist again. I will take meds if I have to, but in the meantime I thought I'd try more natural methods.

So, anyone had this? Did any vitamins help or meds or lifestyle changes? It's difficult to tell if anything is a trigger or not for me as it's a chronic daily problem as of 10 months ago and nothing changed in my life at that time that I can pinpoint as a trigger.

Many thanks and hugs to all who suffer from any type of migraine - you have my sympathy.

    Hello,

My name is Sandra and I had Migraine pains all my life, I'm 47 years old and just last Saturday I felt the worse one of my life, it's similar to strokes, horrifying experience.

I was taking by and ambulance twice and all they tell me it's just a migraine 🤕😩🤢 and I know it's not..

I goggle my symptoms and Bingo

It's called Hemiplegic Migraine with paralize symptoms like a stroke and with Aura which is worse.

The doctors can't tell really cause it's a rare disease, but we need to investigate and make them see our pain, as it's not easy living like this cause u never know how the next one will be.

I'm sorry your going through this but your not alone🤕😩🤢🤔🤗

I always get mad when drs say "its just a migraine"!  They have no idea!  I can sympathise with you entirely as I get these and I always get taken to hospital fearing a stroke.

But what has dramtically helped me since 2015 when it first started is Flunarizine and Botox injections.  They dont work for everybody, but they do me, so you could look into this Sandra.

I hope these calm down soon and you feel better.

Let us know how you get on and if you come across something new, let us know that too :-)

      Take care and best wishes

      Hello,

And thank u so much for your feed back, yes it's very frustrating to be going through this and the people that need to help u say it's nothing, oh come on...

I know I need this medications prescribed but the doctors don't seem to care or give it too much to think of.

I will let the regular doctor know on Friday cause I'm determined to go in again as a walk in and demand for them to see my symptoms and find the right medicine for me..

Do u think it's wise to fly like this since the pressure it's killing me and I still got no balance .. my body still feels numb...????

Thank u🤗 hope u feel better too

      Hi sandra,

If it was me, I wouldnt wnat to fly with all this going on and pressure in my head and its possible the drs wont allow it either!

You need to get a specialist headache Neurologist, they are much more understanding.

Thank you for your well wishes.

      Take care

      Hello,

And thank you for your fast response, yes I agree the same with u flying , since I'm not feeling better and I need to be on the airplane for 8 hours first , the two hours waiting in the loudest airport, and then almost 2 hours again on the airplane, then I get to my destination. This is for April 9 which gives me a bit gew weeks to rest and get better but since the regular doctors don't know what I got , I'm not asking non of the right medicines, besides over the counter that all they do is upsetting my stomach more and more. I got to fly again on April 14 to California so I'm very worried cause like u mention the pain and pressure in my head will get worse or God knows what may happen when I'm so high with the airplane elevation.

I will try to get a neurologist, thank you very much ??😩🤕😵🤔🤢..

      Good day...

Have you had an mri? My neurologist said everyone with migraine should have one anyway

Yes I have, but showed nothing abnormal and they release me home and the next day I had the bad Migraine attack with the symptoms of stroke..

So to me it's not really realiable...
