Vestibular Neuritis- headaches normal?

Posted , 8 users are following.

hello, Ive been diagnosed with Vestibular neuritis.

Week one - everything felt weird and when I moved my head I would feel sea sick.

Week two - the floor felt like it was moving up and down.

Weeks three to 15 - the if I moved about the floor felt like it was jerking back and forwards every 4 steps.

Weeks 16 to now (week 28) - if I do too much of anything , reading, computer use, walking about, travelling any distance more than 2 miles, shopping, moving my head about a lot, I start to get a headache, this builds up more and more until it is excruciating. If I soldier on I get muscle twitches, aching tired limbs, exhausted, and the floor starts to move again.

Anyone else get get really bad headaches? Painkillers don't seem to do anything, neither does Stematil or betahistine.

I'm still waiting for an MRI scan appointment.

    Hi Adrian

I have same thing. And the headaches are common with this . Unless you are a migraine sufferer too. I was told I have vertigo migraines as well as neuritis. Not to be negative but I'm going on 4 years with this craziness. Getting depressed because everyone I've seen over the years has no solution for me. Try rehab that's all. I started a bit of vestibular rehab. Nothing yet. We'll see. Desperate too. There has to be something out there. People don't get it. It takes over your life.

I noticed as time passed. The movement that were constant started slowing down. The sidewalk isn't up hill anymore so our brain is trying to heal this thing slowly. I hope you get relief soon

Has any medication helped you with the migraines? Vertigo definitely gets worse during them. If I had relief from migraines then it would be one less thing to worry about

Hey Adrian. Sorry your goin through this. I've been dealing with same issues for last 7 months. All started after bad sinus infection. Constant dizziness, lightheadedness, unbalanced, foggy headed, and CRAZY headaches which is almost everyday. Life has been brutal to say the least. Have no idea how I've been working all along. Symptoms are all day and I'll usually get a falling sensation with the swaying all day long. Haven't taken any medication but soon I think they will put me on something. I recently took the vemp test where it indicates I have possible Ménière's disease.. I think I have neuritis and MAV tho.. I'll let u know if any medication works for me

I went see EnT he told me to stand on the spot with my eyes closed and march on the spot with my arms out straight count to 50 when I opened my eyes i turned to the left he said I've got a weak balance system He told me not to take stematil or betahistine HE told me to do vestibular rehabilitation exercises. I feel worse when I'm out side

So it turns out my MRI scan shows a bulge from the cartilage between the third and fourth vertebrae in my neck is pushing into my spinal cord. So when I move my head it jabs into it, I think this has been messing up the signals from my body

That is great that you found the reason for your dizziness. What did they do for you and are you better now?
