Vestibular neuritis- Help** Severe anxiety- Advice***

Last April I got a severe cold with an ear infection. I ended up suffering from vertigo for several months with severe panic attacks. I have no issues with salt and no hearing loss in my ear. My issue is now is anxiety and It only gets bad when I exercise. I feel great when I exercise however the next day I feel very anxious. I had my thryroid and all my levels checked and everything came back normal. I have never been depressed but since my ear got damaged I suffer from mild depression and severe anxiety. I read that when the vestibular system gets damaged it can cause other systems such as depression and anxiety. I have never ever had anxiety or depression

I guess my question is does anyone else suffer from this feeling? what medicine do you take? Does anyone feel normal from day to day but when they exercise the anxiety kicks in the next day? I'm afraid to go on anxiety medicine because I don't want to ever have to depend on it but I feel like the anxiety is ruining my life and its depressing not being able to work out because of the anxiety the following day. I'm wondering if this will be long term or short term. What symptoms do other people face from Vestibular neuritis

I was the same but I’ve been getting horrific pressure in the bottom of my head and neck? I still feel lethargic, I take betahistine to reduce pressure. Waiting to go for ct scan xx

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear you’ve been having a hard time. I think it is definitely worth speaking to your GP, many people experience anxiety following an injury or medical condition. They’ll talk to you about anti anxiety medication, but they won’t force you to go on anything. They may also look into counselling and mental health services for you, which is a very good route to go down, especially if you want a medication free recovery route. You could also look into these services yourself, many run on self referral. Best of luck!

    Hi,

I came across your response by searching VN. I want you to know I have the same exact experience as you. It's very scary but working out will help long term. I prepare myself to know that when I work out I'll have anxiety for a few days and tell myself that's all that it is. I was diagnosed with VN 6 months ago. I am about 80% better I still suffer from dizziness and swaying while sitting a lot. Also tinnitus in my left ear! I notice that when I work out with a bar on my shoulders and my arms it makes the dizziness worse. I would assume bc it's effecting the are a near the back on the neck. If I stick to cardio it doesn't happen as much. How are you feeling. ? I also do not take anything. I tried lexapro but it wasn't worth the side effects. I also do a lot of Vestibular exercises from a PT daily.
