Vestibular Neuritis Length of Time

Hello. I was diagnosis in 2013 with vestibular neuritis which the abrupt spinning lasted 1.5 years. Now the spinning comes back and last for about a week every 4-6 months. This time its been about one month. All the research I conduct says that this should have only lasted a few weeks and that's it. Am I the only one the providers have no answer to ongoing relapse?

could the spinning be BPPV? I ask because often VN will cause some BPPV. Has anyone done the Epley Maneuver on you? Neuritis isn't usually associated with severe spinning.

yes they have. i don't have severe spinning anymore but enough that i have to walk with a cane and i get so tired. sometimes it feels like i been hit in the head. ct scans comes out clear not stroke, etc. when all this started i had triggers like, bright light, stress, migraines, loud patterns, too long on electronics. stuff like that. so i learned to adapt and triggers didn't go off so bad. now they are. i have accepted the fact that this maybe my life from this point on, but i get tired of it when it keeps me down too long. the epley maneuver didn't work for me. just alot of sleep over time was the best cure. when i had a vgn done years ago the technician said that she believe it was a blood clot in my ear too small to pickup because i also lost 40% of my hearing in my left ear. another provider believe it was a stroke because of also left side weakness.

    hi

i was misdiagnosed with VN-was told i would be better in a couple months. i wasnt. did you get testing caloric testing to test the nerve? you should. my true diagnosis is vestibular migraines. look it up on webmd. see if it fits you. there are a lot of misdiagnosis. first BPPV-then VN- contact a dizzy clinic in the major city by you. they can do the right testing to get you the proper diagnosis and treatment.

i had vertigo come out of the blue one day. i woke up and the floor was on the wall. violently ill. had to go to the hospital. dizzy, confused, i was diagnosed with BPPV- then after second episode diagnosed with VN- for months i had trouble walking, talking, thinking, and just moving my eyes i would be dizzy. i knew i was misdiagnosed. my right hand went numb one day and was numb for months. that scared me. i started realizing when i was in the hospital, they were asking if i had a headache, yes, they were covering my eyes because everything was too bright. i began to realize when my brain fog started, my head would hurt, my eye would droop. migraine. i asked my doctor to try to treat it, she gave me norotryptiline. it worked. she sent me to the otolaryngologist, who did the proper testing and confirmed that it wasnt VN- that everything pointed to VM- i have my brain back, no dizziness, no brain fog, my hand is fine now. the numb hand is an aura. i have been on this med since august. every increase a symptom goes away. you may need to ask for treatment, most f these doctors crap. i had a nuerologist tell me i was just going to be disabled. she was wrong. she did no testing, didnt care, never even mentioned VM- they just assumed it was VN. it wasnt.
