Vestibular Neuritis?? Plz help!

I have been diagnosed 5 months ago with Labrynthitis.. Not sure if it's actually what's goin on because it was a pretty quick check up at ER. Extremely lightheaded, unbalanced and foggy headed is the major symptoms. Have noticed it gets a lot worse when I'm out in the cold for a period of time. Been goin on for about 5 months now.. Back in September I had a really bad sinus cold. After those syomtoms passed, a few days later I got an extreme wave of lightheaded dizziness and was surprised I was still standing when I realized what was goin on. Somehow I finished my shift at 11am then went to ER. Could barely even walk in there.. The only time it went away was when they gave me amox-clav pills and about 7 days in I felt 100 percent and the last few days of medication zero lightheadeness. After done with those everything came back a couple days later and never left. Was the amox clav pills just coincedent or maybe that tells me something? They said I had Labrynthinitis and sinusitis but it seems that the symptoms of vestibular neuritis relate a lot more. Plz help..

Hi Edward, six weeks ago this happened to me. Extreme vertigo nausea foggyness ear fullness etc. Doc said yep labrynthitis and maybe sinus infection,  gave me antibiotics and anti sickness tablets. Within a coup,e of days felt much better. Finished anti biopics then within a few days wham( Xmas eve! Back it came and much worse. Been like it ever since. Some days better than others. If I manage to walk the dog and its cold I pay the price on my return. I'm taking betahistine now, still not able to work as a nurse and on my feet all day. Like you vestibular neuritis seems to fit more with my symptoms but until I have MRI results etc I won't know. It's a horrible illness and I feel for you. All we can do is try to be positive... Very hard when you are having a major vertigo attack as you are convinced you are going to die, but it does pass.... And we are all here to help. You take care xx

So sorry to hear Helen.. It's rough being all excited thinkin it has passed then it comes back.. Very depressing not being able to be 100 percent at work and not sure you will get through it. I used to go to gym 5 days a week for last 10 years so I'm very healthy and conscious of diet.. Can you please let me know if you hear anything? It would so appreciative. Bless you and hope you get better

Hi Edward. I'd so sorry to hear you're going through this. Do you have plans to see an ENT? It definitely sounds like you need to see someone other than an ER doc or a GP. I had a sinus infection along with an ear infection that wouldn't go away (all started April 2015)  and wound up having surgery to remove a cyst from behind my eardrum (you can read my story from the pulsative tinnitus and cholesteotoma link). My balance and hearing never quite returned and I have since been diagnosed with labyrinthitis. I do physical therapy for my balance and got hearing aids which helped tremendously. It took me a long time to find the RIGHT team of doctors,  audiologist,  and physical therapist....and I stress the word RIGHT.  There's tons of good information out there and lots of great support here.  Keep us posted on how you're doing.

Thank you so much for responding Mary! As of right now, I'm trying to save up money for insurance. Would of had it by now but Holidays and girlfriends Bday hit me pretty hard haha. So that's really the hold up right now because I'm sure I'm gonna rack up a pretty good bill as well. Thank you for sharing your story and I will most definitely update you when I get the ball rolling! Hopefully it will be soon
