Bear in mind that "a virus" can be anything of a thousand different diseases, some attack to the nervous system, some attack the heart, some attack the muscles and so on. So the fact that your chest feels rather as if you have bronchitis or something like that does not mean it is not a virus.  You have to rely of medical advice, not on guesses by your friends in the internet world.  So make sure you see your doctor, and if need INSIST of seeing a chest specialist.  (And remember that if it is a virus antibiotics cannot help, since they do not attack viruses.  They can however help you to avoid the viral illness turning into a bacterial illness due to your being weakened by the virus.). But DONT for your sake rely on guesses by people on the internet,  DEMAND to see a specialist.

    good luck

Well, I hope you get better soon.  I am 80 and have progressive pulmonary fibrosis, which is being kept in check with the first ever medication that has existed and only appeared in. May this year, so while there's life there's soap as the laundress used to say!  You have a good chance of getting better.  Keep warm and take it easy!

      hi neville ,

thank you so much for your reply ,and sorry to hear you are suffering as well but brilliant that there is a new medication for you to try,i'm  afraid i dont have much faith in doctors or hospitals ,but thats after having some reall bad experiences with my mum and late husband ,plus everry one of our doctors has left the practise and we have 7 new ones now ,all very young and appear to have no time for us oldies ,it could just be me of course thinking like this but she did not instill any confidence in me when visiting her yeasterday, however i will sit it out as she told me to do ,and hope i recover ,also hope you are finding a difference with new meds

    Hi Jazmia,

Viral infection of respiratory track present with these many symptoms. It has its own course and disappears without medicine. Considering age and immune factor you may need to take antibiotic prescribed by our GP to avoid secondary bacterial infection. If your doctor has examined you and diagnosed it as viral infection then don’t worry. Just try to take as much rest as you can. Take plenty of water. Have healthy diet and steam inhalation. As viral produces profound fatigue and weakness these supplementary aids will help you to maintain your immune status and overcome on energy loss in short time. Keep watch on symptoms. They should go off by week. If no then fix appointment with your GP.
