VIRTUAL COLONOSCOPY

My doctors told me I need a colonoscopy and I am terrified.
I live in the West Midlands, does anyone know a local private hospital where I can pay to have Virtual Colonoscopy?
thank you

I hate to say it, but Virtual colonoscopy isn't very usfull. If they find a polyp then they still have to go in with a scope to remove it and you will be exposed to so much radiation that it can increase the chance of developing colon cancer or other types of cancer. Just curious, why does your doctor think you need one? Are you having blood in your stools? If it were me and I could justify the test, then I would have it done at a hospital under full sedation, as I have not tollerated having a colonoscopy very well in the past. I find them very painful, so if you do need one then make sure you are put out totally, that way no bad experiences and it will be over in what seems like mere seconds. Please don't get the virtual. They are harmful and remember if they find anything you will still have to have the scope. Also, if you don't think you need one get a second opinion. If it is just for rutine screening I wouldn't do it. I have Crohn's disease, so I was very sick and that is the only reason I even had one. If it wasn't for that and my doctor told me I need a routine screening, because I turned 50, I would have told him to pound sand, I am not getting one unless I have symptoms or bleeding.

You can have a Barium X-ray, I almost forgot. They put barium into your colon and then do an xray scan of it. It would show pouches. I have many pouches and They may be what is causing my pain. If you do decide to have a colonoscopy done, being put out entirely will cost more, but in my case it is worth it as I had two really bad experiences with them, but that doesn't mean you will. If you decide to use the traditional sedation make sure that on your consent form you hand write in that if you should wake or become aware of what is going on or you are in pain that they are required to either stop or give you more pain medicine. That way you are covered. You can tell the doctor that is what you want, but they may not do it, because it isn't on the consent form. It has to be written on the consent form.

Panic over. Not slept or eaten much for a few days. Went to see the bowel specialist today. Good news - I don't need a colonoscopy, my symptoms are just bowel spasms which can be treated with medication. I was over the moon until I got a phone call from Secretary of Urologist I saw last week, my urine sample was reported as contaminated and needs to be repeated, now I'm really about what that means! one worry settled but now something else to worry about.
