Visable lumps where my tonsils should be.

I had a tonsillectomy over a decade ago. about two weeks ago I started to have the sensation of something caught in my throat upon inspection i have noticed two lumps in the right socket of where my tonsils used to be. i have also noticed that my taste buds down the back of my throat are very inflamed. I have been to the doctors and have been referred straight to an ENT but being rural our specialists usually come down every so often, but due to covid restrictions the ENT cant actually travel for my appointment so I'm waiting to find out if i can get a permit to go into the city. its super uncomfortable causing me to gag from the feeling of something caught in my throat, but doesn't hurt (unless of coarse after vomiting) just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what this could be? its freaking me out a lot not getting answers.
