    Hi,

I can only comment on my short experience with Visanne as I haven't used it long term due to side effects but had a laproscopy to remove 8.5 cm complex cyst and advanced endometriosis 11 weeks ago, the surgeon explained that endometriosis can always come back and put me on Visanne as a preventative measure. I could not tolerate the side effects at all and sadly could not take it and now I am only taking herbal Resveretrol and Curcumin but no medical evidence to support either. The problem is if you cannot tolerate for at least 3 months then there is apparently no benefit in taking it. For people like me, I can only hope and pray that I will not need another operation.

Thanks - I hope the new mess work for you and you don't need another op. I had a cyst removed when I had a c section ten years ago but my endometriosis had been getting progressively worse until I was in pain for most of the month and really heavy periods. The doctor put me on visanne and I've been on it for eight months and it's great. Literally no pain and no side effects but I haven't had a period since June so I'm a little worried. I live in Indonesia and its hard to be able to trust what the doctors say here so I'm hoping someone can give some advice. I was wondering if I should have a break from it and have a period but the info about it says not to take a break.....

    Hey Gaynor17762!

I also live in Indonesia, Bali. I took Visanne for about 16 months, I had no negative side effects (just positive like weight loss) and when I stopped I got my period back and didn’t have the pain etc I had before going on it. I saw a specialist in Japan who did an ultrasound and said everything looked clear. I guess the tissue stopped growing and reduced? Not sure about this diagnosis but the symptoms of the Endometriosis have disappeared. I’m thinking about going back on Visanne however as I believe I have a progesterone imbalance until I can see a Western hormone specialist so i’m also wondering about the long-term effects...

I have taken Visanne for 4 years with no side effects. Before taking it I was suicidal because no other treatments worked. I was prescribed it in Germany and the Dr. Instructed me to take it until I reach menopause. I accidentally left it at home for a week once while i was on a business trip. My period and all the pain returned but disappeared about a week after i started taking it again.

I am also on Visanne for about 4 years now. The side effects at the beginning were a bit difficult to get used to by now experience no overt side effects. I am pain free and have not had my period since...aside from the occasional break through bleeding. Visanne is my new life partner

I have endometriosis that manifests as stomach pain and didn’t seem connected to my cycle, just constant pain. After my second surgery and switching to European doctors I was put on Visanne.

I did have bad nausea at first, but at two months that symptom has passed. It is slowly working. I had a 2 week break in pain for the first time, and even though the pain is back it seems less. In less areas and more defined, so it seems to be working.

My doc said I really need to give it time and so far I’m seeing improvements.
