Are visual migraines with aura dangerous? I found online that they are harmless, and ocular migraines are harmful. What can be done (medication or remedies) to cure Visual migraines with aura?

I don't know what an 'ocular migraine' is but a visual migraine with no more than an aura is harmless. Believe what you read.

It is usually the first stage of the migraines I used to get, followed by a mild but specific type of headache that would last about 24 hours. In my case, the headache never bothered me.

Some times I would also feel nauseous for a while.

The aura is the first indication of a migraine heading your way. It dances in front of your eyes for a few minutes and dances away again. Enjoy it! How often do you get to see an animated Picasso?

    Hi

I did a fairly extensive Web search for info on Ophthalmic Migraine/Ocular Migraine/Scintillating Scotoma/Migraine Aura recently and satisfied myself that it was a small cross to bear (Can email you my detailed documentation of this if you wish but here are a few relevant links:

I have had ocular migraines for more than ten years. When it first happened I went immediately to the ER and was referred to a local ophthalmologist. By the time I got to his office the OM resolved. The doctor told me they were harmless and to learn to live with them.

To date I have not found any OTC or supplement that might help. I have found the best way to deal with them is to lay down and put warm pack on my forehead and eyes. I said warm not hot. I carry a travel pillow in my car and when I feel an OM coming on I find a place to pull over and wait until it passes.

I think there is a medication but I understand the side effects are not so tolerable.

have had OM's for 50 years. i seldom get one anymore. But, some people find staying hydrated, magnesium supplements and baby aspirin helps.

I had my first migraine aura 6 months ago at age 43F. I never heard of one before, so when it happened, I was terrified. I wish it never happened because it has ruined so many aspects of my life. Good luck to you!
