Vitamin and mineral supplements

Hi ladies

I take different supplements. They are:

Magnesium citrate 800mg a day

Cod liver oil 400 mg a day

Flax seed oil

Evening primrose oil 1000 a day

Vitamin B's mixture

Vitamin C 1000mg a day

Vitamin D3 25ug a day

Vitamin B12 roughly 800mg a day

I wondered if I take too little or too much of something. Is any of this contributing to my palpitations?

Fish oil is generally recognized as safe in doses less than 3 grams daily, but cod liver oil is different from other sources of fish oil because it's quite high in vitamin A, which can build to toxic levels. Vitamin C should not exceed 65mg per day. Vitamin D3 minimum is 2000 IU per day. None of these contribute to heart palpitations.

Just take a multivitamin that has all those ingredients, and dont' worry too much about it.

If you are low on vitamin d, it's ok to take a bigger dosage. I take between 10,000-12,000 IU daily. Have your levels been tested?

Nothing beats a balanced diet and exercise, preferably outside.

Most vitamins and minerals got straight out in your urine. You only need supplements if you have a deficiency in one.

Hi Michelle. I'm sure I've read somewhere that too much vit b can cause a side effect of palps, it might have been on wikipedia. I can't remember if it was one of the b vits or vit b as a whole, but might be worth you having a look on wikipedia or googling "vitamin b side effects" or "too much vitamin b?" & see what it comes up with. xxx
