Hi there

I'm not keen on excercise and I try to eat a balanced diet, however, I have been taking the following supplements for over 5 years and wondered if i was actually wasting my money?

I'm 47 years old and a bit chunky for my height, my BMI is bordering on 30!!!!

This is the list of supplements I take daily:-

Probiotics and FOS

Glucosamine sulphate 1500mg

Cod liver oil 1000mg

Evening primrose oil 1000mg

Chlorella 700mg

Centrum women multi vit and minerals

Echinacea 380mg

Liveral

Cetirizine hydrochloride

Any advice woudl be welcome.

Thank you

SamCat ^-^

Centrum women multi is probably a waste, because you said you eat a balanced diet

Probably - as you say you eat a good diet. One person who posts says that using supplements is as good as flushing the money straight down the drain - very expensive pee! Most nutrients are required in small amounts and are present in adequate amounts in a good varied and colourful diet. And in some cases more is not better - too much of some things is associated with increased rates of certain diseases, including cancer.

i suppose the way to find out would be to stop one at a time and see if you feel any different!

Hi SamCat, I'm sorry but all I can think of is holy crow, that are alot of supplements and at a huge financial cost!

I understand what you are doing, I've just finished 2 years of trying different supplements, I shudder when I think of how much money I've basically flushed down the toilet!

The only one that I'm currently taking is cod liver oil. Unfortunately I really miss my daily whey protein shake, it just tasted sooo good! Now that it's all out of my system I don't feel any better or worse than when I was on them, though I do have more money than I did, Haha!

Have you considered seeing a Naturalpathic Dr.? I haven't but would like to. It's the ongoing battle of the bulge and looking for that magic pill! The only magic going on is that the suppliers and manufacturers are all getting richer!

The truly scary part is that you truly don't know what they're really selling! Look at Walmart, Target etc. I understand that none of their products thatsupposedly had aloe Vera in them apparently had None!

Since you asked and after my personal experience I'd have to say that Yes I think you are throwing away alot of hard earned money!

    Good luck to you, Susan

But LIKING something is a good reason to use it - I wouldn't give up something I actually enjoyed!
