Vitamin C supplements and Methotrexate

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hello everyone,  I have a couple of questions.

Is is it ok to take a course of  Vitamen C such as Halib Orange to encourage healing whilst on Methotrexate even though the drug's purpose is to suppress the immune system?

Also is there a minimum/maximum time to be on this drug?  I have been taking it constantly for over 4 years and feel like I need a break now.  It  has certainly helped my RA.

Thanks John.  Thought the Vitamin C might help heal my mouth lesions.

Try washing your 3 times day with warm slt water that is an old remedy. It's also good to gargle with for a sore throat. My gran used to make me do it and i never did get my tonssils removed.

    Hi Maggie,

I am also on MTX and I take Marshmellow Root or Licorice Root to help my kidney and liver as MTX comprimises them. I also take Folic Acid on a daily basis with the exception of the day I take the MTX

Morning David,    Interesting.  Does that mean you are not taking any medication at all now?
