Vitamin D deficiency

Posted , 5 users are following.

I am experiencing hair thinning from past 1 year but I observed it 1 month back and consulted a doctor. As advised by him I have taken 25 OH vitamin D total test. The result was shocking my Vitamin D level is 5.48 ng/ml which is less than deficient. I Google out the problems of Vitamin D deficiency they are shocking. So I want to get that level to around 75 ng/ml which is good (i think from my investigations).

My doc advised me for CALCIROL (60,000 IU) sachet every week for 3 months. So if I take this calcirol for 3 months within how many days I can reach level of 75ng/ml.

Please advice me.

I hope you get better. I have been experiencing aches in my joints for ages and not only feel tired to go with it, but I noticed my hair has been falling out and I have also noticed my thigh muscle has dented in.

My GP has only realised my Vitamin D is very very low.

Also my iron is only on the boarder. I still think it is because I am always freezing with cold hands and feet.

    Has anyonle else experienced this

I am having the same problems, my hair is also very thin but the doctor says it is from the menopause. Some days I can barely walk due to the pain in my feet. I ache all over and have to 'drag' myself out of bed or make myself do things.

Despite having regular B12 injections, I never have any energy, even to do household chores. My vitamin D levels are low and the doctor put me on a high (30,000 IU) daily for 8 weeks. I feel worse on them, sick, fast pulse etc. I have now been put down to an 800 IU dose daily indefinately.

I have never felt so 'craggy' in all my life. I don't want to get out of bed because everything takes such effort.

I cannot believe this is just down to a vitamin deficiency but I am having constant blood checks and the only thing coming back raised are my CRP levels even though I have not had an infection.

I just want my life back.

Google "Vitamin D Council"  for website that is a good source of information Also research "osteomalacia"

There is also an excellent book by Dr Holick The Vitamin D Solution

it takes time to recover from Vit D deficiency.
