vitamin d deficiency

I'm all too familiar with vitamin d deficiency I had it shortly after having my gall bladder removed i.have reason to believe I'm going thru it again I'm showing all same symptoms as before, my question is I had a cbc blood test done all was normal but vitamin d test is separate isn't it?

    Yes I think it has to be requested separately.  Do you know whether your serum B12 and serum Folate were tested as some symptoms of their deficiency are similar?

      No I have a appointment on July the 3rd I'll be asking for test my gastro Dr did cbc test everything was ok except my liver enzymes were at 57 but he wasn't worried he said could due to antibiotics I'm on. My symptoms are similar when I last had my deficiency 4 years ago so I'm going to order the test as well as the one you recommended.

    Vit D testing is a separate test that in most places is sent away to be done in a specialist lab whereas a full blood count is done in every hospital lab. In the UK they often try to tell you it is expensive - no it isn't: a lab in the Midlands does it for under £25 for bulk orders of 10 of the paper test strips - which a doctor should be making.

      Thanks for information I have a appointment in fee weeks and will be requesting the blood work for vitamin d deficiency as well as other vitamin deficiencies.
