Vitamin D deficiency and smoking.

An unusual question. I've recently found that I'm severely deficient in vitamin D, as low as 10 nmol/l. This is likely to have been for several years.
Could there be any connection between this, and feeling dizzy, losing my co-ordination and balance during and after smoking a cigarette? I can feel unwell for up to half an hour afterwards.
Has anyone else experienced this? Could there be a connection with vitamin D?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Anthony, I think that if you're honest with yourself that you already have part of your solution! Quit Smoking!! If your worse symptoms are after you smoke I personally think that part is a no brainer! Why continue to do something that makes you feel rotten?
As for the Vitamin D, I think you should discuss this with your Dr.
I hope that I didn't offend you but sometimes we all need a kick in the pants to help ourselves! Good Luck, Susan

I actually have quit smoking, 10 weeks now, but smoking did this to me for years so I wanted to ask if there were any connection with vit D.

Smoking is supposed to deplete Vitamins C and E rather than D, although unsurprisingly everything tends to be interlinked in some way
Saying that, Vitamin D is used in a lot of different processes, including the support of detoxification. If you're really low in it then perhaps your body has been struggling to get rid of the chemicals. I'm going through a recent sensitivity to random chemicals which an increase in Vit D has been assisting with (as it supports one of the pathways) and when I was suffering from a chemical hit from simple things like soap or vegetables I often felt very dizzy and clumsy until it wore off, plus things like 'brain fog' and headaches.
Congrats for stopping smoking though Hopefully you'll see an improvement regardless
