Vitamin D deficiency. Help !

Hello everyone.

On Xmas eve 2017 I had felt sweaty and pins and needles on my arms and legs. I had a panic attack as I didn’t know what was happening. The next day I went into a&e but as it was Xmas day there was only a GP and he put it down to anxiety. At that point I thought it could be true as I had just found out my mum was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. So I kept thinking I have it too.

Couple of days later I went to my GP and she checked me and sent me for a blood test. The results came back as low vitamin D. Now the doctor I went for the results mentioned something about inflammation markers are borderline but he wasn’t concerned.

He gave me 50,000 iu to take once a week for 6 weeks. Then put me on 800iu per day.

I thought I was getting better. I felt great at the end of the 6 weeks. But the anxiety is hitting the roof. Pains on my back. Pains on my arms. Pains on my shoulder. Feeling depressed. Feeling lightheaded. Legs feel heavy. And no interest in anything. Heavy chest. And cramps in arms and legs.

I’m really worried as it’s putting me down so much. I have 2 young children. Aged 3 and 7. I feel like I can’t go anywhere with them constantly feeling ill.

Can someone tell me how long it takes to feel better completely. I want to be like before. It’s going to be 3 months in April. I just want some happiness.

Sorry about long post.

S.

I am not an expert, since I am also facing the vit D deficiency (discovered 8 weeks ago) for the first time, but I read that the body can take up to 3-4 months to heal, depending on the severity of the deficiency. Sometimes even more. Anyway, as I said, I am not an expert, so I suggest you to join this facebook group: Vitamin D Deficiency UK - www.facebook.com/groups/458769434286147/ you will probably find your answers there! Anyway, one of the most important thing that you need to know is that vit D supplements can take some times to raise your level, but you can speed up the healing process by also taking magnesium and vitamin k2 supplements. In fact, an increase of vit d level improves calcium absorption, with a consequent increase of calcium in your body. The vitamin k2 is used to control where the calcium needs to be used in your body, while the magnesium helps your body to maintain calcium balance. (vit D supplements could also lead to magnesium deficiency).

Anxiety is also a symptom of the vitamin D deficiency. Knowing this could maybe help you deal with it better, since it's helping me do so!

I hope this information will help you and that you'll get better soon!

Unfortunately it took me nearly a year to feel better, like you I was in pain, I was having terrible panic attacks, I just felt terrible, my doctor advised it takes at least 3 months for the vitamin d to start to get into your system, so it will take time, but you will feel better soon, hopefully this bad weather doesn't last and we can finally start to see some sunshine and get some vitamin d from the sun.

Hi, my story is very similar. Started feeling strange before Xmas, tired, palpitations, anxious, dizzy, achy. Thought it was my ferritin low but saw gp end of jan who said Vit D  11. Felt awful after a week of daily 20000 and had to resort to anxiety meds. After 3 weeks off work I went back and started to feel much better.... now in the last 10 days I have pins and needles, light headedness and feel generally weird again. Have just joined the Facebook group mentioned and plan to get the meds they recommend. Feel like I’m back to square one sad

Omg. Exactly like yourself. Last week was my worst week ever. I started vitamin supplements at 50,000iu from January for 6 weeks. I felt so much better then the gp gave me 800iu and I went back to square one. It was horrible. Now I’m following the protocol on the Facebook page. I’ve started the 10,000iu a day and already can feel a difference. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi hun, I have the same issues. I was on vitamin d2 50,000 iu weekly for 5 weeks. I was supposed to take it for 8 but in this forum and a group on Facebook I learned that is not the right vitamin to be taking so I switched to a daily dose of 10,000 iu of vitamin D 3. I also ordered magnesium and vitamin k as they help metabolize the vitamin d and absorb it. I was sick 6 months I’m 35 and have 2 kids as well and worried I’d lose my job. The anxiety is awful the pains in my neck the tingling and dizziness. Even my hair was falling thinning. I e just stared the vitamin d3 3 days ago but I’m hoping that this helps. The forum and vitamin d deficiency page on Facebook have really helped me. T gave me hope that I should feel better soon. My level was 18.1 so I know it’s gonna take some time before I feel better but I have hope now that I didn’t before! I wish you the best of lick. If you have Facebook join the groups cause they will help ya! My dr doesn’t know much about this deficiency andnits symptoms so I spent a lot of money on mris ctscans dr visits. I even had surgery that I didn’t need due to the drs not knowing. T was six months of this before they checked my vitamin d.
