Vitamin D3, Cranberry Pills + BV talk!!

So ive noticed in a couple discussions that a lot of people had success with taking vitamin d in combination with other vitamins and stuff, so i tried that. I think its also in part because of some other things i changed in my diet as well.

A little background... ive never been diagnosed with BV but i knew i had a lot of the symptoms of it ever since just a few years after i started my first period when i was 13 ( im 20 now). My guess is that its just a mild case. I get lots of discharge and more of an ammonia smell. This is pretty much an everyday thing for me. ive always been open with all my doctors and said everything i thought was wrong. One of my doctors said that discharge everyday wasnt normal but that i shouldnt worry about it (yeah, weird right?) that doc always looked at me like i wa crazy everytime i mentioned "everyday" discharge, like it wasnt even possible(i no longer see her). and then another said that the smell/discharge was actually normal and that everyone pretty much has their own scent that other people either smell strongly or not at all(she was funny and oddly specific about things, but refreshing from a lot of doctors).

I was so annoyed with it though that i did sooooo much research, but i NEVER douched or anything cause im too chicken for all that and im pretty sure youre not supposed to (idk but ive read this). Anyway, i ended up taking probiotics. BUT let me tell you! this gave me my first and most horrible UTI/Yeast Infection EVER! bruh, when i say this was going on for 4 months, i aint kidding. doctor to doctor, they just gave me either cream or dilfcan(idk how to spell it but its close to that). By the end of month 3 i was like screw this!! and i did more research and saw that a low carb/low sugar diet helped. My stubborn self barely had carbs/sugar for a whole month to see what would happen and sure enough it died down a bit, along with a little miconazole for a couple weeks. I also took another probiotic because i was desperate for a solution (and i dont know how to learn) and the same thing happened again. Luckily i stopped it right away and it sorted itself out in a couple weeks (thank goodness).

Now, after that i kept feeling like a burning sensation, similar to a UTI but it didnt burn while peeing so i was confused. This was all the beginning of this year. Its improved sooo much over the last couple months from me changing mainly a few things.

-only drank water or tea. I used to be a hard core coffee drinker but ive cut it down to once or twice a week. I mean, i pee every half hour, but i guess its worth it.

-lower those carbs. apparently yeast loves carbs and sugar. Im a sugarholic so this was very hard but limit carb intake for most of the week and i go my heaviest for about 2 days of the week. I dont mean be like that Oprah commercial and eat bread with every meal, but just watch it. (BTW get those fiber one flat breads, they'll save yo life). same with sugar, just limit how much youre taking in. I found that most of the sugar I was getting was from drinks, so once i cut those out it was easier.

-yeah i started taking vitamin d3 5000iu daily. I only take one gel cap right now but maybe ill try to take one more. Im actually deficient so i'd check with your doc to be safe. But i think its fine for most people to take small doses. i think this works because technically vitamin d is a hormone.

--Cranberry pills! I havent had tons of UTI's but when ive had them i took capsules and I just love this because it actually works fast when you do have a UTI. I take one or two of these this with the d3 after breakfast.

--idk if this is even helping but i try to include yogurt into my diet a couple times a week because it has natural probiotics. Im never going down that road again with pill form, ill tell you what.

SO ive been doing the diet(ish) thing for about two months and the vitamin/cran pills for a week. I know its too soon to actually know if its fully working but the smell is waaaaayyy better. Its not nonexistent, just more subtle. I still get the same amount of discharge but im so used to that, at this point id think it was some kind of sign of the apocalypse if my underwear was dry.

Anyways, thats my little rant and story. Talk to me about ur problems and trials and such! Id like to hear some of you guys and how you deal with this cause when i was younger it felt like it was so taboo and weird to discuss and now i like these kind of forums to see how others are going with it. smile cheesygrin

No you are not alone! lol. so the m word thing was actually a cream. they dont let us say the compay names on this forum but its like the most common over the counter yeast infection cream that starts with a 'm'(you know the one?). so ive never tried the women a day gummies and ive used azo in the past but cranactin works really well for me right now. they are more like little capsules.
