Vitamins/minerals

Hi everyone, I know I've read bits and pieces of this before, but with all the info I consume my brain seems to have misplaced it😱. I've been having one hec of a time with back and abdominal spasms and charley horses in my calves and feet (especially at night!). Will someone please tell me the best vitamins and or minerals to take to help combat these issues?

Ps....sitting in a warm bath is lovely but not always practical!

I think you should consult your GP regarding taking medication for your  leg cramps. You should do blood tests to evaluate your requirements...

Too much of vitamins or magnesium can also do damage.

    Feel better.

Are you drinking enough water? I know when I forget to drink at least 72 ounces of water a day I get muscle cramps, spasms and head aches. I need to drink one half my weight in ounces. So if I weigh 140 pounds I need 70 ounces of water each day. I try not to drink much water after 7 PM so I can sleep without getting up every hour to go to the bathroom. Hope you get better.

For the cramps you may find a magnesium supplement helps  - pred makes you lose more magnesium through the kidneys. It would be the first thing a patient was told to do here in mainland Europe and if that didn't work they would then look further.

If you like a warm bath - try adding Epsom Salts to the bath, even a foot bath. Magnesium can be absorbed through the skin.

Blood tests will only tell you if you are VERY deficient in magnesium as the blood robs it from the muscles to keep the blood level up, leaving the muscles short and so they tend to cramp.
