Vivid nightmares I now attack in my sleep HELP

So I have had very vivd dreams since I can remember. Most just your average weird dream, however recently (the last three years) they have become nightmares. Always in the room I'm sleeping in, so real I feel I am awake and it is happening until my husband pulls me out of it.

I have imagined everything from spiders, burning roses, burning people, cuts opening and blood pouring out too even worse I now see people in my room as if they are there. I could draw a picture. They start always from a corner of the room and it always happens very fast. Sometimes i'm screaming sometimes I can't even breathe I'm to frightened. I could deal with this until this week I attacked my husband, nothing serious but I was thrashing above him and screaming at him convinced there was a man in the room by my bed.

This frightens me not just because I don't want to hurt my husband but also I have a 2 year old son in the other room (incedentaly he suffers from night terrors and sees things coming from the beams), but I don't want to enter his room screaming and frightening him or worse.

When I was younger I used to sleep walk but grew out of it. My husband is understandbly worried and dreads going to sleep. Short of me locking myself in another room I'm at a loss of what to do.

Ive spoken to the doctor she said there was nothing I can do, she gave me a hynotherapists number but I cannot afford £120 for the first session and then hundreds after I would if I had it!

Please can someone help me who knows a place i can talk to to get advice or a specialist I can contact?

hi Hannahbird1e. this must be awful for u. i'm so sorry to hear your suffering so without help. i think your GP should refer you to IAPT (improved access to psychological services). it's a relatively new service & you can self-refer. google it and contact details should come up. it sounds a little like ''Sleeping Paralysis'' syndrome except you're active during the attacks.

    hope you get help soon

    Hi Hannah

Firstly your GP should give you I think 6 sessions free to see a hynotherapist. The practice has a ( duty of care ). Leave this with me and I will find out, but please be patient I need to pull strings. I wake sometimes in the night and spiders cross the ceiling and down the walls ( I am petrefied of spiders ) what ever size. I end up jumping out of bed. I also see people/animal faces on the curtains this scares me.

    Take care

    Hi

I am on the PPG at the doctors will find out ASAP about FREE treatment for therapy, PLUS have very good contacts. PLEASE bear with me. My surgery has moved to new premises recently and NEW staff have been taken on. Even I am having trouble getting past the receptionist. ( But will use the back door to open contacts ). I will NOT see you pay privately.

      Caitlin39841.

My apologies PPG. Patient participating group at doctors surgery.

My doctors came think 349 out of 8000 practices in UK.

Bearing in mind the last 12 months it took to move and that was taken in to count for the surgery position. Where would we have been if we had NOT moved ??.

Also I am involved in CCG AND OTHER GROUPS. Will get back to Hannan ASAP. Thank you for your involvement
