hi guys, want to share some of my experiences with my catract op both eyes vivity.
left eye:
after surgery absolutely no pain, no pressure and no uncomfortable feeling or something like that.
same evening took up the eye shield and after cleaning the eye got a pretty good vision and sometimes a little flickering mostly in bright light or infront of the pc.
comela was swollen and got some haematoma on the eye, but dont feel anything.
one day after surgery about 60-70% vision.
right eye:
similar to the left but had no haematomas and comela wasnt swollen as much.
one day after surgery about 80% vision.
sideeffects: little, got some halos and starbust but very little, with my cataract there were definately more. next days i will make a night drive to test it more, but so far looks good. ๐
spiderwebs or shapes of the lenses in the vision ...none
vivity and near vision: was really positively surprised about the good results. regarding the focus spot should be about 66cm ... for me it looks more like 50cm. i can easy read messages on my mobile in about 30cm so i am very satisfied with that result.
Finally would say was the perfect decision, at least for me...near vision is absolutely satisfying to me and i just hope far vision will grow up to 90-100% in the next couple of weeks
best regards...
btw, the operation took place at the uniklinik frankfurt with femto laser.

to extend my impression of vision...
i see no transition from near->intermediate-far all distances looks sharp to me and have no blurry or irregularities.
near and intermediate is very sharp would bet more than 80% far is quite good but there is space to the top.
in the u.s there are often used methods with plates in a distance about 50cm to determine the vision and recalculate them to far vision (forget the name). could imagine in such a test i would have better results right now. my vision test was in about 5m distance.

Happy for you that the surgeries went well. Swelling does affect vision - so you should see more improvement.

thx for your congrats all, yes sure i have no worries about my vision improvement, doctor said the same about swelling. for me personal its an big improvement anyway, had 30% before surgery and now i feel like a sharpshooter. ๐
i like the "normal and natural" feeling about my vision, nothing reminds of an articical lens

you are the same age as me. how would you rate picture quality of video on the iphone?
vivity advantage is no circles. 60cm is an interesting sweet spot. i have always wondered how vivity would perform for near with one eye set for -0.75 correction.
do you know your lens diopter and what was your pre cataract correction?
thanks for sharing.

picture quality is very good depends of course of the distance...
i have tested again and i would say my left and right eye have a little difference in their sweet spot
left eye about 40cm (actually 60% far vision)
right eye about 50cm (actually 80% far vision)
a little more in distance (60cm) is sharp as well but no bigger difference
but you can read up textmessages in 25-30cm , just a little blurry but easy readable
both lens have pwr 18+d
my pre-cataract values were about -2.5 or -3.0 with a little toric not really mentionable for the right eye. left eye was a little more toric and a 0.25 higher diopter value
they made relief cuts with the laser to correct the toric
hope they have calculated my values the right way, but they are a very experienced and a professional team so i guess they have ๐

saying sweetspot i mean the shortest range where i can see sharp. maybe the difference in range with both lenses are more 5cm than 10cm...something like that

just curious about the future outcomes..
after 5 and 3 days....haematomas are getting better, maybe got a little improvement in far vision about 5% on both eyes. feels like natural vision, no side effects so far.
i am a little bit surprised that my vision near and intermediate is really good but far there are missing some percentage. most patients seems to have a good far vision and struggle with near for the first couple of days/weeks (especially trifocal lenses).
what do you guys think? is 100% still reachable or will i stuck to about 80%?

they may have undercorrected you intentionally or unintentionally. but it is a blessing in disguise. 80% is great distance vision with occasional glasses for driving or looking outdoors. u would not need glasses indoors or for near. i would actually choose that combination and not have the artifacts of circles and halos. good luck.

sure thing i wouldnt trade my vision with a vision of halos, circles and artifacts, but the undercorrection has nothing to do with those effects, i guess.
actually its more about 65-70% left eye and 80-85% right eye.
maybe my comments looks ungrateful, but its in the human being to be curious and get greedy. ๐

little update got my 1-week after surgery visit, unfortunately at my local ophthalmologist .
lets start with the healthy aspect...seems like everything goes fine, nothing special about that.
got a refraktion nearly 100% both eyes. Normal eye test is still about 70-80% and my ophthalmologist said that i will stick with that vison and will need an correction to drive in a few weeks. he is not a big fan of edof or multifocal lenses and he seemed not much experienced with that in his explanations...
just wondering that every serious source tell something that it should take couple of weeks to manifest vision and regarding the refraction i hope for improvement.

With a non Defractive lens that does not split the light you are seeing clearly from 10 inches out to full distance? Sorry US citizens cannot think cm.
I would take that lens any day. I thought the Tecnis Enyhance and AcrySo fIQ vivity would just provide a little more intermediate distance over a monofocal.
If I can get a lens that provides clear vision from 10 inches and out with no light splitting and no dysphotapsias this lens would be a no brainer for me.

i would say i can read text message from my smartphone from a distance about 10 inches. really sharp and clear vision is more about 14 inches.
my far vision is at the moment about 75% left eye and 85% right eye, i would guess.
in 2 weeks i have my next check and can give more detailed informations about my progress.

With successful cataract surgery full healing takes 6 weeks. I wouldn't
spend much on glasses before that time. most ophthamologists don't do full refraction test - or mine didn't - had to go to my optometrist for that. Not unusual for the specialists to have strong views on monofocal vs premium lenses. My optometrist strongly advised me against premium lenses. But now 3 years later she says she is impressed with how well I see. I often wonder if one sees well whether they make regular visits to optometrist if there is no need for glasses. I go every year still.
