l read vivity is available in both yellow and clear versions. Why is that the case, is it something to go with UV block ? should people avoid the yellow version would that give a yellow tint to vision?

The yellow tint is to provide blue light filtering similar to the natural lens. I believe it is the popular way to go. You would have to ask your surgeon if they can get a clear version. Both my AcrySof IQ lens and my Clareon lens are yellow tinted for blue light filtering. Whites seem very bright white to me. I noticed a big difference when my first lens was put in compared to the one that still had a cataract. The cataract eye in comparison was yellow to the point of looking orange.
.
I will post an image to show how the clear lens, blue light filtering lens, and natural lens compare. It will take a while to be "moderated".

I don't know if you've seen it, but you might be interested in seeing the video "clear optic versus yellow-tinted IOLs in cataract surgery"

This is how the light transmission compares between a clear IOL, the natural lens, and the blue light filtering version.

would the contrast be higher in the clear lens

The yellow tinted IOLs are similar to eyeglasses that have "blue blocker" lenses. Its not usually significant enough that you would normally not notice a yellowish tint since its supposed to be about the same as a 30 year old natural eye lens would have. The clear IOL types are closer to a young child's natural eye lens in comparison. The contrast should not be significantly different, just the color temperature - its like on a TV setting the color temperature setting to more warm (white has less blue) than cool (more blue).

I thought I heard that somewhere once before too (a clear Vivity) but I don't think that's actually the case. I would love to be proven wrong.
