Vocal cord polyp removal

Hi,

I'm a singer who has had a non-cancerous polyp removed from her vocal cord almost 3 months ago.

I have been very careful with my post-op recovery process. Have not spoken at all for 3 days, then only spoke with my voice therapist present and only when i was doing my vocal exercises for another 2 weeks. I then continued vocal therapy for another month and am still careful with not raising my voice, or whispering and am still doing my exercises every morning and evening. I have seen my surgeon 3 weeks post-op and after examining my cords she said they looked perfect.

I am a singer and I have recently started singing lessons as well, because I plan on taking it more seriously from now on.

I have two questions:

  1. If my ENT surgeon told me my vocal cords looked perfect 3 weeks post-op, what are the chances they are not anymore if I took care of them?
  2. Why do I sometimes feel fatigue in the throat area, that usually goes away after I massage it and do a bit of vocal exercises?

Thank you so much,

Sara
