Vomiting with Crohns

My partner is now experiencing vomiting which he hasn't had before with his Crohns. Could this mean he has Crohns in his stomach now rather than lower down as before? I presume it can exhibit new symptoms in a different place?

Hi Katebrenda, Is your partner experiencing a flare up? When I had flare ups and was in a massive amount of pain I was really sick (had many trips to hospital sick bowl in hand!) I was also sick during labour with both my girls... Obviously that's a lot of pain too! Could it possibly be the medication being taken? I'm no expert but sure someone can offer you good advice. Hope your partner feels better soon smile

Thanks Glojo yes I think he may be but tends to suffer in silence rather than make a fuss! He has not been sick with it before so I assume it's a flare up in a different place. He will be seeing his consultant early April but I worry he may have an obstruction or similar further up.

My Crohns was in the lower ileum and I frequently vomited.  Evidently this was caused by a stricture.

Hi Katebrenda.   I had severe periods of abdominal pain and vomiting which got worse over time, lasting for about 24-48 hours.  This was accompanied by bloating and reflux.  It was a result of a blockage at the terminal ileum.  I'd go into hospital for pain relief and fluids and then be sent home again until next time.  They didnt know I had Crohn's until I had a laparoscopy to investigate my vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea/blockages etc.  They removed 30cm of bowel at the terminal ileum which had completely closed off.  Post-surgery I have never had the same issue, as the blockage was removed.

Thank you for your comments. He too has had part of the ileum removed many years ago when he was first diagnosed .

Hi, it is one of the symptoms of crohn's flare up. Has he went to see a doctor about it?

He has spoken to GE nurses and they just dismissed it as a bug! He is having a considerable amount of pain and,has had diarrhoea at least once. Luckily he is now seeing specialist next Sat ( his appointment on the Thurs was cancelled due to the strike and postponed til 25/4!) and I am going with him. Has anyone every had a capsule colonoscopy? I'm sue he will refuse any of the ordinary ones!
