I don’t know the percentage rate but I had a VP Shunt put in when I was about 16 and I am 34 now. So...

Have you had to have it replaced or anything? I'm 37 I'm a little old to be having a shunt put in right? I see my neuro surgeon in two weeks.

No, it’s never been replaced and I didn’t have it looked at until I was 30 (four years ago). You are not too old! Seniors have them put in for NPH.
