VRT and worsening dizziness

I started the gaze exercises Tuesday and last night I noticed the rocking sensation was back bad and it's here again this afternoon, I'm curious when doing thes exercises is it normal to have worsening dizziness? When I sit I feel like I'm moving all over the place. I started the standing ones with the chair in front of me last week and the dizziness actually got better now with the gaze one it's worse, is this normal?

I also am seeing a chiropractor who is working on my neck and spine and when I was done he put in this table that vibrated and massagedand I hope that didn't cause this.

Can anyone tell me if the vet makes this worse

Thanks

Yes in my experience I found that when I started my VRT, my symptoms got much worse. I think the first 4-6 weeks of undertaking were bad.

You must persist and fight through the dizzies for it to work. Don't give up and say it's not working.

I've been doing them for 5 months now. For the first 4 months I did them religiously.

      Hi sonicCD

Yes I still do the exercises although not as much now. That is because I am a lot more active in my day to day activities now. I only do them once a day, whereas for the first 3-4 months I would do them 2-3 times a day.

I still have the dizzies an have been for 8 months now. I am a lot better than 6 months ago and 3 months ago. It's a very slow recovery and I still have a long way to go. It's the other symptoms that are a nightmare such as fatigue in the legs and brain fog. My body is exhausted.

I have not had a dizzy free day yet, but that's not to say that I've had no good days.

My ENT diagnosed me with Vestibular dysfunction of slightly unknown origin. I have genetic hearing loss anyways, and was told not to waste time chasing diagnosis and just focus on recovery,

I've diagnosed myself with labs/neuritis as I had all symptoms except the vomiting.

I'm familiar with your condition and I'm very sorry as I can certainly understand how debilitating this is for you.

Patty and Sonic, I completely understand. I have fatique in the legs too... I though it was just because I have stopped walking through the winter. At PT, I have to rest between exercises! I have also been doing the VRT exercises, for almost a year now, and I do not notice any improvement. With some people it works, and with others it might not.

What I don't understand is how, with this dizzziness (off-balance, really not vertigo), a person can have good and bad days. Mine are all the same. Bad. I went out last night with friends, and felt like I was drunk trying to weave between people in a crowded room. Noise, crowds, people veering in front of your path (ok, it was a pub, we went to watch the basketball game on tv biggrin) all made it very difficult to keep my balance, and it was not from anxiety... very discouraging. Some days I just want to crawl up in a ball and sleep. Walking is so difficult like this.

Good luck to both of you. I am going to take up Tai Chi. I hear that may help.

P.S. I never had worsening of symptoms while doing the exercises (although I don't know what "gaze exercises" are. I only do the head movements and balance with feet ones). When I move my head, I get the off-balance feeling, whether I am doing the exercises or just living daily life.

      HI dee

I'm sorry the exercises have not helped.  I'm hoping they help me, I know its a long process and difficult.  My anxiety is back now since starting them, because I'm afraid of the dizziness, I know that sounds silly but its true.  I understand what you mean with being in crowds, for me it just all the people, make me anxious because I'm alway worried something might happen.

The gaze exercises are when you sit down and put  a focus point on the wall and move your head up and down for 2 mins then side to side for  2 minutes.  When I started these I could feel the dizzieness come back at times, I also do the standing in the corner with a chair in front of me and my arms to the sides and have to close my eyes for 3 mins and I do these twice each time.  I do them all 3-4 times a day.  ARe these the ones you are doing?

I hope the tai chi works for you.
