Vulva issues after sex - warning pics!

Posted , 4 users are following.

Ever since the birth of my second child 3.5 years ago, I've experienced a range of vulva issues from reoccurring thrush, which i'd never previously had, to burning and pain regularly, though not all the time after sex. I've also had a few splits and bruises if we have had particularly rough sex.

I have also seemingly 'shrunk' down there quite a bit and the skin seems less supple and is more prone to injury. Is it atrophy or something else? Don't feel like i look right down there any more! imageimageimage

tbh i'm not sure what you're concerned about. the skin just inside the vaginal opening? it looks like normal hymenal tags to me, but i'm not a medical professional

@Infinityadhd thank you. I was more referring to the general colour and appearance on my labia minora (inner lips). Feel like they seem pale and dry and on the small side. Ive always been 'neat' but feel like my inner lips have gotten smaller. If that makes sense.

Hi Helen; i would ask gp to refer you to vulval clinic. They have specialist knowledge and can help. I've been to see one today, as I've also been having similar issues except feeling smaller. But i had a nasty case of thrush which cleared but still dealing with itching & burning during my cycle.

Doctors kept fobbing me off and didn't really have a clue!

      Hi Jessica,

Thanks so much for your reply. I've been referred and going soon as managed to get a cancellation. Otherwise, appointment was booked for March 2023! Did you get any answers if you don't mind me asking? I hope you did.

      Thanks again,

      Helen
