    Hi,

I didn't have orators just managed on codeine and paracetamol a slow release tablet that was not morphind related. The wind was the worse thing for me. Take some form of peppermint in to help relieve this if you can.

I'm nearly 7 weeks post op and still no where near revovered unfortunately have an internal infection and just had UTI so on anti b's.

The op for me was the easy bit

    Good luck Donna x

didn't have that problem at my hospital they only used it after paracetamol had not covered the pain. I only need 5ml does twice. I am sure in your case it will not be used they will come up with another idea because of  yourreaction. I am 5 weeks post op today TAH + BSO and feel much better than before my op. Good luck try not to worry the waiting is the worst part

Judy01992... I'm glad you said the waiting is the worst! I haven't got an actual date yet but my ob cons said last week surgery in 4 weeks. I'm all over the place and signed off yet again for another week this will now be my 3rd week off, and have been told I'd be better off to stay off now. I think I'm going to explode or get tired of sleeping.

    I am 12 days post op ( TAH /BSO)

Depending upon your anaesthetic for Op may determine used of morphine post op pain relief, if they administer spinal before general then less need for morphine just paracetamol / codeine.

Ask about this on next appointment or pre op appt

I now have a date for my op, 20th May already had my pre op assessment last week and see my consultant next week.  It's all been rushed in as I have been suffering badly with PV bleeding and can't really work at the moment either. Looking forward to it but feeling very unhealthy at the moment on lots of different drugs to keep the bleeding at bey. But have put on 6kg in the last 6 months because of this treatment. Any suggestions on getting fitter before op?

    Hi Sarah

as others have said the waiting is just pants.

on the fitness front I have no expertise and when you are feeling rubbish that is not a great motivator either.

My advice ( for what it is worth) is to be kind to yourself.

Accept that t the fear and worry will pop into your head when you don't want it to.

Try and get some good digestive health going ( you know the whole fruit and fibre stuff) because that for me was the biggest post op issue.

Don't pull up trees and exercise to ridiculous levels but fresh air and a bit of walking will help to balance the mind to.

Get some pampering in , if you can. Just time for you. You are the most important person in your recovery and pre op too.

Music is great for me to just get in the pre op zone because you will have to put a big brave face on in those few hours before you get knocked out.

it is no walk in the park but just try and do all the things before your op that make you feel good? A bit of retail or catch up with friends.

You you will be fine. Recognise what triggers the stress and just work at pushing it away.

Positive thoughts being sent your way Missus!

Deb South, thank you, you make a lot of sense there, my job is so active which is why I'm unable to work and I feel like a couch potato! I feel as though I can't be seen doing things as people would think I should be at work, so feel like I'm regressing away from everyone. when in reality I can't do much anyway . I think I'm just finding a way of beating myself up as I've become so unfit and big!

i need to change my mind set! I was very excited last week when I was told the date of my op but now I don't know what to feel I feel numb and scared, I've only ever had emergency surgery apart from my c-sections but there seemed a much bigger reward at the end of those surgeries!!

1st don't feel guilty about work. The Doctor has signed you off. Which means you are not medically fit to work. But you are able to do what you can to get your head and body together to get fit ( mind an body) for your op.

Unfortunately for me no kids but the TAH is like the C section discomfort minus the baby to take care of!!!

I am told that the tiredness afterwards is a lot to do with healing up after they have removed "all working parts"

So if it is a walk or a swim do it. Do what you can before because you will be told that you can't afterwards. or you will be too tired!!

if a colleague who was about to or just had heart by pass surgery was seen doing light exercise no one would be pointing the finger.

I am desperate to get my fitness back and drop some weight but I am doing what I can. When I can, forthe moment.

Stick with it the Op date will come thundering up soon enough and you will have had time to balance yourself for it.

    Go girl !!!

Drat I thought the sleeplessness would improve with time.

on good days attempting to tire myself out before bed.

Other times I am just wide awake into the early hours.
