ive had this problem over 2 years now, and after various treatments ie, physio, cortisod injections, my physio finally agrees its time to sort it! no s*** ive been in agony, its my right arm so really need to be able to use it without feeling sick through pain. My question is how long do you usually have to wait for the surgery? its only been 2 weeks since the physio referred me but already im desperate, (say already i have been like this for 2 years). im in mid glam area.

hi, all well at long last, had my hospital appointment with consultant, and guess what he didnt even examine me, he looked at my x rays/scans and said yes def need surgery to sort this, explained what he would do, 3 small incisions, take the calcification out clean the bone spurs off and as i have a degree of arthritis in the joint he will clean that out also, i will be in a sling for 4/6 weeks,no driving for 6 weeks,im just glad to be able to get something done even tho i have to wait another 3 months for the actual surgery, So took my self off to the gp determined  not to be put off yet again and requested proper pain relief, and a referal to a rheumy clinic about my arthritis, and no problem was prescribed a 5 mg an hour morphine patch to be changed very 7 days, but after 24 hrs the pain was just as bad so i applied another patch (thinking i could remove it if i had side effects) and bingo 70% pain relief why i couldnt have this 2/3 years ago is unbelievable!!!!!, he also has refered me to the clinic as my finger/ toe joints are being effected, How the hell i have remained sane after all this time is a miracle, i have never felt pain like this and being left in this pain is torure and should never be allowed!! i felt so emotional at being given treatment and pain relief, i can bear life again, x

I've recently been diagnosed as suffering from calcific tendinitis in my right shoulder. My GP got my shoulder x-rayed which shows there are large calcific deposits in the supraspinatus tendon on my right shoulder. I also have a large calcium deposit adjacent to my AC joint. It can be quite painful at night and disturbs my sleep. I'm taking 50 mg of Diclofenac Sodium tablets twice daily. My GP is referring me to a specialist in orthopaedic and rheumatology for treatment. Is it likely that the calcium is going through the resorption phase? Any thoughts would be useful.

hi Briana , I was diagnosed with tendonitis over a year ago , although I have been suffering door 2 years , thought it was my fibro .. gp sent me for physio which only made matters worse , so eventually they gave me injections, wow I finally slept like a baby , but eventually they stopped working so back to doctor, thought he'd give me more but he wanted proof of what was wrong with me , so off for ultrasound , and they also sent me for xray , obviously found something .... back to gp for the report to be told I have calcific tendonitis in both my shoulders and he has referred me to the surgeon , who I see this Friday 3rd June , fingers crossed he will do op and won't be a massive waiting list , the pain is so bad ,I'm now struggling to even get out of bed or off the sofa
