Posted , 6 users are following.

My husband who will be 71 in April got cataracts on both eyes.Left eye partially blind.Been refered to hospital, already waited 2 months.Phoned hospital today to be told he wont be seen for another 9 months.Thats before he even sees a doctor. His eyesight deteriated more in last month. He can not read,do crosswords, play snooker or watch tv.Eyes are blured and he says he sees double at times.Surely this waiting is not right. He will be totally blind in a month or so

Hello Joy, sorry to hear about the deteriorating vision in your husbands eyes.

Here in Lincolnshire there is now a considerable backlog of cataract cases needing attention, and I suspect this is due to Government cut-backs.

When I had both of my cataracts corrected 3 years ago I only had to wait about a month before they called me in to have the ops, but now I believe the waiting list can be anything up to 6 months.

I have to go back to have laser treatment on one lens that has clouded-over a little, but I am not holding my breath as to when this will actually happen.
