Wake up left eye hurts every morning

Since 2015 I have had open angle glaucoma, now on Ganfort. I am now 69.

Since January 2020 my eyes have hurt when waking up especially my left eye. Not one day has gone by without this happening. After rubbing them five minutes then not too bad. In the day my left eye is worse especially in the afternoon as if there is something in your eye and very sore. I tried Systane Ultra eye drops for dry eyes and use warm or ice compresses.

I have now seen a private doctor who has prescribed Lipolac before I go to sleep and he has prescribed artificial tears for day time. Has anyone else had this happen through dry eyes?

I was reading on here a lady had used Manuka honey on her eyes. Has anyone else tried this. Or tea tree or baby oil?

I am to have cataracts removed and a trifocal lens inserted in July and wish i could remedy this dry eye condition beforehand.
