Hi Paul. If it makes you feel less miserable, this happened to me, too. I am 5 weeks in on 50mg. Horrible insomnia for the first three weeks, slowly getting better now. I wake up at 4:30 every morning, sometimes able to doze off again, sometimes not. It's challenging but not uncommon apparently. It can feel so crippling when happening several nights in a row as you spend your days in a cloud. I am hopeful that this will wear off, though (as it seems in your and my case).
I've been able to make it through this period without sleeping aids. I now take a liberal dose each of taurine and theanine before bedtime, and that seems to help. I also force myself to get up early every morning and expose myself to bright sunlight, drinking my morning coffee on the patio. I think it helps to expose your body to that natural cycle, so ultimately it'll fall back into its usual pattern. I also avoid daytime naps. Some people also report good success on melatonin but you don't want to take that for extended period as it could mess up your natural melatonin production. I took it for two weeks but then abandoned it. Are you currently taking anything to aid your sleep?

hi there at least I am not the only one suffering this....may I ask where do you get the two supplements from you mention..? in the first couple of weeks I took zopiclone but only a couple of times as I felt uncomfortable doing so....I have also considered using an over the counter antihistamine sleep aid that promotes drowsiness but as yet have not done so....I like you feel thos products may mess up the natural cycle....I have also been in the sun a lot today....here's hopeing

I scoured pharmacies and vitamin shops in my town. Blank stares regarding the taurine. Turns out, Walmart has both, taurine and theanine. Amazon is another source, of course.
You could try an old-style antihistamine (like Benadryl). It never worked for me but I haven't tried it in a long time.
