Waking up into panic attack?

Does anyone else have problems waking up into panic attack? The last few nights I have woken suddenly from sleep into a full blown panic attack. My heart races , I have a sense of impending doom and I feel sick to my stomach to the point where I have had to throw up.It seems like by the time i wake up and realize whats going on I am too far along into the panic attack to talk myself out of it or take a prn Ativan.Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to prevent this?

Yea i do all the time. ive been able to accept my panic disorder and actually have seen a huge difference in the day, i have maybe 1 a week and its usually very brief. however... ive been able to do nothing about the night attacks... i get them probably 5-10 times a week.
ill be drifting off then boom i wake up to a crazy head rush gasping for air. im not sure what causes it but i definitley understand what youre feeling.
best of luck to you, ativan helps... but its not good to rely on.
cheers

Same with me:)If I have an attack during the daytime I can usually reason with myself that it is just anxiety and will pass. When they happen at night thought I think I am still partly asleep and cant reason out what is happening.

Yes I have this experience often. Mine is due to lots of awful things that happened to me a few years ago and although those things have stopped I still get the sense of doom that evil horrible things will happen during the night. All I can say from my own long personal experience is that as time passed the awful feelings are getting less and less but when it does happen there is nothing I can do to help myself as it is an illness in itself feeling this bad. Learning to accept it helped me instead of fighting it. And as soon as the rotten doom dread disappears for a while treat yourself to some kind of good happy memory, even something small, something that makes you feel good and happy so that there may come a time when feeling good outweighs the feeling bad. Good Luck.

Amino acid supplements are the answer.
Research Theanine , GABA ,5HTP, DPLA and many others too
They are all available online or from health shops .
These are life changing and without side effects
Hope you feel better quickly
