I'm absolutely scared to sleep now I dread bedtime I've had a very non anxious day until around 7pm when I began to feel weird and anxiety started from there I came to bed late after cleaning ect as I lay down I close my eyes and start to dream which us normal right then all a sudden I forget to breathe I wake up making a noise either a grunt a gasp ect my partner is witnessing this and doesn't seem concerned but it started this week I know I've had it before and gone months without it and once it starts it seems to linger for weeks but what could cause me to stop breathing ? It is asif I hold my breathe in my sleep and my body then naturally wakes me with a gasp ect and my eyes open wide and I get the scared feeling throughout my body I then feel I'm unable to breathe properly for ages I have a blocked nose too tonight so it's making me even more anxious I'm scared I'm gonna die from this like ill stop breathing and that's it 😣 anybody else understand me ??

Okay a few things might be going on with the breathing. One is do you have allergies? You might be getting sick with a cold. Do you have gerd? Reflux and lastly sleep apnea. Breathing is automatic so you cant stop it. I have woke up gagging for air on occasion. When i have a cold or throats all dried up this has occured. Scary it is scary.  Start making very sure you drink at minimum eight full glasses of water a day. See if that helps. I would recommend if that continues to see your go and ask about this.

Sounds like you are really stressing , i had that before ,i suffer from anxiety ,panic attacks ,and i am under alot of stress ,i began to shrug my shoulders and when i catch myself doing it i release them and i have such a sore feeling afterwards. Been to the doctor's many times have had 4 EKG's done ,and blood work ,everything has been checked and everything is fine , its just stress that i have . Sharing my story on here ,exercising more and meditation has helped out alot . Hope you feel better and remember you are not alone .

It sounds to me like you have sleep apnea or larynospasm. I have both and they are really terrifying so I know exactly how you feel. I shoot awake gasping for breath some times 3/4 times a night. I've even rang a ambulance before because I couldn't get my breath for what felt like ages then I can go weeks and it doesn't happen.i really think stress snd anxiety make these conditions worse, because my syptoms definatly get worse when im anxious,;if I'm feeling quite relaxed they tend not to be too bad. Larynospasm even happens when your awake. I was driving my car last week when all of a sudden I was gasping for breath. It's like someone has just closed my throat up. Eventually it does pass after a few seconds,,though it feels like ages. I know it's easy to say but you must try and relax especially before bedtime,,otherwise you will make this worse. Believe me I speak from experience. You should also go and see your docs who will probably refer you to ENT,;who will be able to properly diagnose you. That's what they did for me. Hope you have a better night sleep,,try and not worry too much, you will always wake up if you stop breathing, so remember you won't die. Take care Lisa x

if you are overweight it could be sleep apnoea and you may need a Cpap machine to help you at night with your breathing. Or it maybe a form of asthma.
