Walking :)

It is such a beautiful day here, cool wind but sunny........ decided I would go for a little stretch of my legs.

Hubby and I went to a local NT property and one of the 'little' walks is over parkland up to a 'folly' and back which is about two miles in total.

We went slowly and with lots of stops and I managed it

Had a long sit down with a latte and piece of cake to celebrate in the restaurant afterwards.

I feel absolutely wonderful..... this is a huge achievement for me..... going to rest with feet up for the rest of the day but because I have been 'unable' to walk anything like this, has made me realise that, in time and with patience, I will be able to do things like this as long as I take it slowly and carefully and rest afterwards. :D

Hope everyone else is having a good day..... hope you northern girls are not up to your ankles in snow

    Hi Fiftiesgirl,

It was so lovely to read your post, I was almost there with you (especially the latte :coffee: and cake :cake: !). Once I'd got my head round the fact that I couldn't actually fight PMR but I could 'go along' with it, I faired much better. Its all about what you can do and not about what you can't. Now take it easy, put your feet up and enjoy the memories of your very sucessful day :magic: .

This isn't boasting - I have skied on 4 consecutive days this week. Not a massive amount each day, but earlier in the season I wouldn't have dreamt of going out on consecutive days. It's the same every year, I have to build it up slowly and by March the difference is amazing. Part of it will be the different temperatures but even so :D . Next year should be better as I have bought new skis - easier to turn so less effort required. But what it all comes down to is starting small and increasing a bit at a time - celebrating when it goes well and not being stupid and overdoing it just because you feel good.

So glad you enjoyed your day - look forward to the next one now

    Hi Fiftiesgirl,

Well done and glad you enjoyed your walk 8)

Yesterday, I had to leave my car into the garage for new brake pads and walked home....it is a bit over a mile.

For the first time since I developed PMR this time last year, I managed it in 10 minutes, which is what it took me pre-pmr, so I was delighted with myself  .

When I first got out of hospital, I couldn't even walk to the top of my driveway, and OK the progress has been slow.....but it is still progress  , and I have also been able to get back to playing a little bit of golf :D

So my advice is, as everyone on here will agree, just pace yourself and enjoy all the days that you get to do a little bit more....and give yourself a rest on the days that you can't.

    Very best wishes, pauline.

Hi fiftiesgirl. Thats great! bet you are on a high. And you deserve to be.

Yes, I agree with Pauline (above), try to do the things you like to do, but don't do too much..Know your limitations.

Says me, who's just had a big 'cleaning windows' stint.. :D :D

I blame this lovely sunny weather we are having.

Gilly - you wouldn't like a few days here would you? The sun is showing up all the dirty windows (mine, everyone else is houseproud!) but given how dry it is and the dust they'll stay dirty as by the time I'd washed them they'd be covered in mud  We have an unmade road opposite the house which is used a lot and the dust is unbelieveable - but they are to be building the new proper road to the new roundabout this summer (well, so they say, but they've been saying it for about 5 years  ). So it will get worse before it gets better

Eileen, I hate cleaning windows, so I think I will pass on coming over to do yours.. :P But unfortunately its one of those jobs we have to do.

I did take it steady, and so far so good this afternoon.

Had my xray on Wednesday, and had a few aches and pains after going to the hospital and getting up and off the couch. But all in all I think I am improving..

There's this wonderful German saying: \"Muss, muss man nichts\" ie. \"There's nothing you MUST do!\" My mantra - when it suits me that is

    THE CASE AGAINST HOUSEWORK....

Dust if you must but wouldn't be better,

To do some parchment, or write a letter,

Bake a cake or plant a seed,

Ponder the difference between want and need ?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time,

With rivers to cross, and mountains to climb

Music to hear and books to read,

Family to nourish, and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there,

With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,

A flatter of snow, A shower of rain,

This day will not come around again......

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,

Old age will come, and it's not kind,

And when you go, as go you must,

You yourself, will make more dust.....!

So good, Granny Moss, but dust I must I'm afraid as the decorator has just finished and the dust from stripping the old paper off the ceiling and walls of the lounge seems to have spread everywhere. Busy day tomorrow I fear:steam:

Off to Norfolk for five days so won't be about till end of the week...... forecast looks good so am hoping to sit somewhere in the sun with a pot of tea and look at the sea

Going to be pampered in our favourite hotel, fantastic food and the most comfortable bed imagineable...... almost like home! A treat for me because we feel it would be early days to try to get away abroad

Hi Fiftiesgirl. So pleased you didn't suffer for your lovely day out yesterday. Great progress. Have a brilliant time in Norfolk, hope the sun shines for you. I know you were considering warmer climes, however its raining in Spain and I'm off to Marrakech in the morning and the forecast? Rain!!! So looks as though Norfolk was a good choice. Due to medical issues in the family we're going to have to cancel our next two holidays, so taking the chance to nip off while we can. A rainy Marrakech with the possibility of riots and protests - can't wait  Once again, have a lovely time and enjoy the wonderful progress you're making.

    Take care

    Hi all.

Fiftiesgirl....have a great time in Norfolk and hope you get good weather 8)

LizzieEllen...enjoy Marrakech & avoid all the troubled areas

I have just had a lovely evening celebrating my 23rd wedding anniversary with my hubby :D .

Isn't it amazing how quickly the years pass by and we are so lucky that after all this time together we are still as happy as we were when we first met and still love one anothersmile  :D

One of my neighbours has just walked out on her husband, 4 daughters and 2 grand-children after 25 years of marriage to live with a \"younger\" man :o .

The poor hubby is devastated as he did not see it coming.....any more than the rest of us did :!: . She always seemed such a devoted wife & Mum that the rest of us on our road are totally amazed that she just upped and walked away.....but then you never truly know what is going on in anyone else's lives.

Hope everyone is having a lovely relaxing week-end.

    Love, Pauline.
