Walking & shoe size after tkr

this may sound like a silly question but I didn't know who else to turn to about this problem except all of you on this Forum

my significant other who is 75 years old had tkr .on both knees at the end of January and 1st of February 2019. my question is his feet have started bothering him and his shoes are now too tight and he had to go up a whole size in his shoes . before surgery he was bowlegged and pigeon-toed

my question is is this since his tkr his legs and feet are now straight

could this be the reason that his shoes are not fitting or could it be because of his age and he's walking differently?

I would appreciate your input thank you !!

I would say his old shoes are maybe worn uneven , his feet maybe a but swollen still and hes walking differently , all this takes time and causes different aches and pains in legs back etc ,

I had double tkr 3 years ago at 59. I was told that I should get new shoes because the way I walk will be different and my feet will set down correctly. Before I was in pain and limping and my shoes wore out fast. I also walked with my feet slanted inward slightly. Now it's been corrected. The tightness is possibly swelling from walking. My left foot does that after waking awhile. Prop the legs and ice the knees. Hope this helps.
