    Hi

    I was on citalopram 1.5 years, 10mg.

i stopped 7 weeks ago as entered 3rd trimester of pregnancy and wanted to limit risks of withdrawal for the baby.

it is ok. no brain zaps, no physical side effects. i was absolutely ok mood wise for 3 weeks, later had a down and miserable week, and then it levelled itself. we will see how it will be in few weeks time.

I recently went off of celexa, I was on it for 9 months, 6 of those months I was on 20mg. I tapered a little, I went to 15mg for 3 weeks, then 10mg for a week, and 5mg for 4 days, and did good. I did have some brain zaps, and very vivid dreams but not much more then that. And what I did have was tolerable. It's been 2 months now off of them and feel much better!

    Hi Amanda

If you taper slow and by minimal doses, chances are you'll get less withdrawal effects. Try reducing by 5mg to start with and stay on that for a month or 2 to see how you feel (testing the waters). If all ok, then do it again by another 5mg and wait on that lower dose for another month or 2.

Don't even think doing 5mg less every few weeks will work - it won't. It takes your body a long time to adjust so no point lowering again before your body has finished adjusting.

I spent a year coming off 20mg and have been meds free for a few years now. All is good.

Just take it real slow xx.
