warm knee

Hi im 5 weeks post op and as ive mentioned still ina great deal of pain. My knee was dreadful ladt night and all day today!!! It is now very stiff and warm to the touch??? How do I no if the warmness is caused by being stiff or if it could be infection??Does anyone else still have a warm knee??

    I did have problems with red and warm knee, I phoned the hospital and they told me it was unlikely that an infection would have set in (was 3 weeks post tkr) at this stage. I gave it a few dsys and the redness and heat did subside. They did tell me that the heat in the knee could last for several months.

    If you are really concerned contact your surgeon.

    Andrea, The surgeon told my husband that most patients have a warm knee for the first year. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it gets red and is warmer than it has been. If you have infection, you may have a temperature. Are you in therapy?
