Warm Kneecaps. Seek help or need not wory?

So I on occasion have very warm kneecaps, however i do not feel pain or impermanent in movement in any form. I can not explain why or when it happens at all. This symptom is very random and happens whenever my knees feel like being warm. This is very strange to me due to the fact that it is only my kneecaps that are so different in temperature compared to the rest of the body. Sometimes but very rarely it can be the other way around. So that my Kneecaps are very cold compared to the rest of my body. I would love some input on this matter.

you do not say when you had surgery so I will tell you that I too have a warm kneecap on my operated knee and I am three months post-op. My understanding is this can last for some time and has to do with the internal healing process. Mine is not as warm as it once was but still warm to the touch.

It's warmer because of all the extra blood carrying nutrients to the wound as the body attempts to heal the damaged area..

Yup, yup, yup. Normal, normal, normal. Goes away gradually over months. You might also notice that the op knee looks larger that the normal knee. Again, normal. Even at one year, I could still see a tiny difference. At 3+ years, it's not even noticeable. The swelling subsides very, very gradually.

People have too many unrealistic expectations about this op. Pain, length of recovery, lingering effects, the amount of work it takes for both the ROM PT and then the muscle rebuild. Give yourself a full year...that's the most common time frame. Some tightness, clicking sounds, etc. might last in minor forms to 18 months. Have to learn patience.

The only long-lasting effect I have noticed (confirmed by long-term TKR recipients) is that kneeling on a hard surface (tile, cement, hardwood floors, etc.) will result in some NERVE pain...it's not the knee itself. This, again, seems to be very normal and common. Use a 4" foam pad indoors and padded tactical knee pads outside. Simple fix. Small price to pay for being out of constant pain and being able to walk correctly and do stairs like a normal person.
