Warming up knee before doing Physio exercises

4 weeks after tkr, had setback and just starting Physio again. I was thinking of heating up one of my ice packs in microwave and warming up knee prior to the exercises..

any thoughts welcome

    Nooooooooooo. Too soon for heat. Stay with ice only.

      I thought so to me adding heat does not make much sense but what works for one may not work for others.

    i was told to ice only and avoid heat on my knee, my knee was getting hot all the time and i iced my knee 4/5 times a day for about 20 minutes, it does work, if you want to exercise just do some warm up exercises first, like walking in a circle, start off gently and work your way up, please be careful as you dont want  to twist your knee as that can be very painful, good luck. max

    I think you mean warming the muscles around the knee don't you? At the beginning of my recovery I felt like my knee was on fire and ice was very comforting. I can remember getting to a point where my knee felt cold and heat did help it before exercising it, not sure how far on I was though but I understand what you mean X
