Was on 50mg, bumped to 75mg. Maybe too high for me??

I took 50mg of Zoloft/Sertraline for about 5 months and felt LOADS better after 4-6weeks.  Felt like my old self.  Everything was a-OK.  Then, I had a big family stressor happen.  (Someone stiffed me $1000 after cancelling on a vacation.  I also failed my driver's test that day.)

Now, I had been taking sertraline for anxiety.  After the stressful stuff happened, I started to feel really depressed.  I was still up and down about it after 2 weeks, so my doctor upped me to 75mg.

I noticed my depression lifted after a few days.  But after about a week on 75mg, I started to feel really apathetic, foggy, disconnected.  I thought it was just a side effect that would fade.  But it's no better after three weeks.  The other side effects are gone, now.  Still not myself.

Has anyone out there had a similar experience?  I felt really good on 50mg.  Maybe I should go back to that dosage?  My appointment is next week.  Is it possible that 75 is higher than is good for me?

Yes I feel very disconnected from reality but I do feel better today for the 1st time in ages! I'm on day 17 of sertraline but still feel very disconnected and it scares me! Hopefully it will subside x

Hi Mary.  Yes that does seem to happen.  Like you, I increased my dose after a stressful event.  I seem to have gone backwards.  About two weeks ago my doc said  I need to give it more time.  I am about 6 weeks in and still having some rough days.  I'm hoping it will let up soon.  Hope for you too.  Keep us updated.  ((Hugs))

You're 6 weeks on the higher dose? Do you have good days at all? Like, has anything improved or are you thinking about going back tothe lower dose yourself?

I have had a few days where I did have more energy.  My mornings I am usually depressed and then in the afternoons I feel better.  It may be because my husband and son are home in the afternoon and during the day I am by myself.  But definitely don't feel "good".  So tired of being sad so much and worrying about everything.!!

I felt good for a few months on 50 and then crashed under stress. Trying to figure out if I should have waited for stress pass and stayed on 50. 75 makes me weird.

I'm in the same boat right now.  Lol.  I guess we just get desperate and hope for a quick fix.  We just built a house and were moving and then my first grand baby was born during a hurricane and gallbladder pain on top of all that.  That's what I was dealing with.  I go a flu shot 2 days ago and I'm feeling like a mess today.  I've never had any side effects from it before, but I guess it's my year.
