Washing after urinating?

I know that urine irritates the area, so is it a good idea to wash after urinating? If so, how do you do it? I wondered about using a spray bottle, then drying well, but wasn't sure if doing this every time I go to the loo would make me even more sore. I'd be grateful for any thoughts.

hi after urinating I usually just wet some tissue paper and clean the area off and then dab it dry, sometimes i use epaderm emollient to wash it properly, however i am a guy so it is easier to do but I read allot of people on here do something or another to wash after using the bathroom, allot of people mention using a spray bottle though

Thanks for your reply. I hadn't thought of using an emollient to wash with after going to the loo, but makes sense. A spray bottle seems a good idea, too.

Do you mean you feel irritated after urinating or you have heard urine irritates? I have mild LS and do not have that problem, but I can get uncomfortable with too much heat. In that case I just rinse off with a plastic cup of tepid water. Drying off with a hair dryer on cool works very well, followed by some lubrication (either yin oil which has an olive oil base or coconut oil). If this is an issue away from home I suppose you could use a small spray bottle.
