Washing you vagina with LS

Posted , 18 users are following.

Hey folks,

I’m so excited I found this group! I was diagnosed with LS when I was 22, I’m 25 now and I finally found a doctor that is knowledgeable about the condition (she’ll never know the hero she is to me), she is a dermatologist that specializes in vulvar dermatology. When I was first having issues I figured out pretty quickly that scented soaps were irritating, but my doctor said not to use any kind of soap when washing my vagina. How do you ladies clean yourself? I feel like just water isn’t quite enough. Thanks in advance!

Hey, with the wonderful.Dr. you have and the outcome of your treatment, why would you stray from her advice? ( You and I have the same thing going as far as wonderful Dr's and a successful treatment) my Dr. gave me the same advice as yours and no problems. The Vagina is self cleaning. Needs it's PH balance and has it's own oils. Stick with who you know and how your responding to the course of treatment.

Hi Juliann glad to hear that you have found a good Doctor , it makes such a change 🤔

I wash with Derma 500  a lotion but can be used for bathing .

Been a godsend to me also use lavender oil and baking soda mix to spray after using the bathroom.

How hve you managed ? And what have you been using to manage itch ect ? Xx

If it’s really bad I use clob, but for minor irritation I’ve found lavender oil to be very soothing

I wash with epaderm emollient and don't rinse it off too carefully as it is soothing.

    Hi

My dermatologist also told me to just use water and i do so with no problems. It just might take some getting used to for you if you do use soaps! He also told me not to wear nail varnish!! I couldnt follow this completly but i have swapped to a chemical friendly brand called zoya now.

Hi Julianne, I dont think water is enough and so I tend to use emu soap, or something very very mild and I've had no problems.  I think as long as you are not putting a big lather on down there then a small amount should be fine...welcome to the group

Hi,  I use Emu soap as well and really like it.  Makes my skin so soft.  I'm used to scented soaps, so this was  big deal to move on to unscented.

I just use water. The occasional time (when I have my period) I use a tiny bit of dove or a clear glycerin soap.

Oh lord. I'm so thankful as well, and your so young, and khow how mortifying this horrific disease is. Im 44, and I was diagnosed last year, and it's been hell. I saw my Dr. and she prescribed steroid cream, and it helped right away. So, I thought it was under control and now this horrible monster LS has flared up with a vengeance. At times, I feel like I'm allergic to my Husband, because after sex....I'm a huge mess down there. I make soaps and body butters, that are amazing for everyone else but can't seem to create the right mixture to help sooth myself. But, I will not give up... We can't give up! we have to combat this monster and help one another as best as we can. I made a Boric Acid vag wash, and I was hopeful that it was going to work....and it did for a few months. But now....it's not really doing much...so I'm back at one. Hang on there....
