Sometimes water retention can be a sign of dehydration. Your body may be holding on to fluids if there is not enough intake. Gabapentin is famous for dehydrating you. You need to drink a lot a water to keep up with what its getting rid of. Also, alcohol, coffee, soda and other caffeine beverages can contribute to dehydration. Since I've been on Gabapentin, my mouth, throat and eyes have been very dry. I am constantly drinking lots of water to keep from further dehydration, leading to water retention. So that has not happened to me yet.

Thank you. Did not know about the dehydration issue. Don't drink soda little coffee etc. but I will make sure now I get 8 glasses of water down. I haven't been doing that lately because not feeling we'll. Will keep on top of it. Hope it will help
