I also suffer from this and have had the condition twice now (the first being 8 or 9 yers ago).

About me: I am skinny, eat lots of bad sugary things, lots of fibre, I often skip meals, have stomach problems intermittently, dont take any medication, no diagnosis of depression but do suffer with it mildly (sometimes) I Dont use sunbeds or tanning products. I dont get sensitive skin or anything like that.

Since this last bout of rosea I have had a constant cold for the last 3-4months, chest infection, eye infections and just generally feeling unwell.

Some similar factors, I don't eat very often (but am in no way skinny), when I do eat it tends to be a lot of carbs. I don't really eat sweet things, but drink a lot of caffeine. This is my third time with it. The first two lasted about 12 weeks, this last bout I have had for 8 months and is still spreading. sad

Ok so I'm fairly new to this pityriasis rosea rolleyes I've read all the information about it that's out there it is very strange rolleyes I found a mark on the back of my leg 5 week ago & only in the last week or so it's broke out everywhere it says it can be caused by a virus & don't recall having a virus previous I had a bad cold is that a virus? I did suffer with sinus problems & I have stomach problems aswell & suffer with acid reflux my diet isn't great I don't eat enough fruit or veg and basically eat crap I'm over weight & have been under a lot of stress the past 4 month or so! Im not on any medication at the moment but was previously on meds for my stomach acid problem. Does anyone know how long you can have it before the herald patch appears? & I'm so scared its goin to take over my whole body sad would appreciate any info smile xx

    Hi everyone,

I think I see a pattern forming... I reckon everyone here has a low immune system - which could either come from eating badly or not exercising. A low immune system is probably also why a lot of you get colds. Not exercising means you'll also be more likely to get depressed. just saying. it's all related, you body is ONE thing.

    For my part:

    no stress

    no bad diet

no longer on the pill (after 10 years, came off it 2 years ago) - PR also happens to guys, remember...

I also ate shellfish, blew my nose and cleaned my toilet. so what.

i have to pay special attention to my immune system for other reasons... and thats why i'm convinced this is the cause.... i stopped exercising, had a hangover and the sun went in in the same week.

I really dont care about this and I'm sorry for you who find it stressful ! Just remember, it's totally harmless and may be a good way to exercise any vanity-based dieting habits. It's just like a very visual (and lengthy) cold in my opinion, can happen to anyone anywhere no matter what they're been doing. you won't any other pattern than general bad health here, i'm afraid.... eating crap - or not at all - is like opening the door to the PR vampire and inviting him in. PR is a gem compared to your other potential problems, one's which won't go away.

I too eat mostly carbs and refined sugars. I do not exercise nearly enough but have managed to stay thin. I wouldn't say my immune system is wonderful but when I do get really sick it's pretty rare except for occasional ragweed allergies in the fall. I visit the sun tan booth a handful of times a month (before having PR and now during the rash) and it has helped beyond belief but I will only use the stand up bed because my rash flares up whenever I become overheated or begin to sweat. I do take a multi vitamin and birth control daily and now since developing PR I have also began taking vit C, milk thistle, garlic, and L-Lysine (which is fantastic for anyone with cold sores and since many believe PR is somehow related to the herpes simplex I figured the L-Lysine couldn't hurt) and in response to the last comment about it being a vanity issue, sure that is part of it and no one likes to strut around with a rash covering most of their body but it's also a general health issue considering I also feel generally unwell, I have a lack of appetite, I feel tired throughout most of the day, and if I do attempt to exercise my rash becomes worse and the itch is almost unbearable. I think it's grand that we are trying to find some common ground with everyone suffering from PR since although it's rare, it can come back so the more info and knowledge we have to stop the disease in it's tracks is without a doubt a wonderful thing. I hope my background can help somewhat!
