Weak bladder following surgery

Posted , 8 users are following.

Hi everyone. I had a left thr on 6 May. I had spinal block with no sedation.

Pain from surgery has been less than I expected, with the major discomfort from a sore backside from sitting and painful heels from laying on my back (a padded fleecey blanket I got in Dunelm is helping heels).

What is becoming a major problem is a weak bladder!  If I could run even this would be a problem. I'm wondering if this is a coincidence, or somehow related to surgery?

Many thanks.

hmmmm ... I wonder if taking the blood thinners in the morning would help the interrupted nights ???? Never thought of this my self though ....

Didn't have any bladder trouble, but with regard to sore heels, hubby soaked my feet in Dead Sea salts (from Holland and Barrett) to soften them and  then he rubbed foot softening lotion in them and put my soft socks on at bedtime.  Hey presto, success!  Hope your other problems soon start easing up.

Thank you Barbara. For some reason I can't reply to your post.

I need to get some soft socks...

Firstly have you been checked for a urinary tract infection? If not I should contact the surgery and get that treated or eliminated. Having said that I needed to urinate more frequently than usual in those first days, anticoagulants, getting rid of all that retained fluid in the swellings and other mess we're what I blamed. Hope it improves soon

Thank you Maggie. I'm at the surgery on Wednesday having staples out, so will have a word then.

That's good, if you can take a sample with you, save trouble whilst you are there. I think chemists sell sterile universals for a few pence if someone can get you one.

I'm so thankful for these posts.  18 days post op for TKR and going to the toilet at least 10-12 times a day.  I've been told twice now my urine is okay but yet I continue to have these issues.  Can't wait to be off of all meds.  Thank you to everyone who has talked about these problems.  Just be patient I just told myself.  It will pass.
