Weaning off of Venlafaxine

Is there any current information on how to successfully stop taking Venlafaxine? I still have anxiety and depression at times while on this prescription. I would like to stop taking it for a while to see if I start to feel better.  Been having shortness of breath with very little exertion. Thanks to all who help..

Hi Michael, it depends on how long you have been on this medication, it is best to talk to a doctor, a slow taper is best, to avoid horrible withdrawel symptoms, such as anxiety, headaches, insomnia, agitation, low moods, sweating etc. It is best to go down doses gradually. I have experience going up on venlafaxine, but not tapering down yet. Best wishes from Rebecca.

Sorry, I have been avoiding these Emails recently because of reducing and withdrawal.. Yes.. find out best way to slowly reduce...if you suddenly reduce.. it's not pleasant.. I've lost friends because I'd forgotten to take them.. erratic behaviour.. not really knowing what I was doing but Thought I knew.. didn't even realise I'd been forgetting to take them... that's how powerful this Stuff Is... please take care.. don't just stop taking it.. I'm still not great after almost 4 months of reducing..
