Hi Ann, I am 12 weeks post op and off to a family wedding this weekend.  I have worried about the heels 👠 too!!  Petty but vain worry!!  Any way I have decided to wear wedges ( quite high but less dangerous than heels I thought) I have also got a pair of pumps, to change into after church .  I am going to have a 💃 as well.  I'll let you know how I get on!

Hi , Christine you sounds like you have recovered very well , at 12 weeks and dancing? I am just at 11 weeks now and still struggle with pain, stiffness and swelling after work , I couldn't imagine dancing at this stage ...congratulations!

2 weeks ago, I Was in the same situation, and I wondered if I would ever get better - I felt like there was no improvement.  Then a week ago I realised that's I had been walking around for about 30 minutes without limping and minimal pain!  From then I have had daily improvement.  Keep positive it will get better

      Here's my heel wearing update!!

I wore my heels 👠 to my nephews wedding yesterday- I managed the church and about 10 minutes at the reception, then changed into flat pumps!! I won't be wearing heels again for a bit - it was fairly painful - only to be expected I guess.  However I danced the night away and was absolutely fine, I had had 1 or 2 too many drinks and I did fall over😏, Whilst dancing with my 7 year old grandson, my hip, my bones and me were fine🙃🙃!!

But I have not been able to dance like that for a few years, so I can only say massive thank you to Shepton Mallet treatment centre and Mr El Deen, my surgeon.

    Hi Ann,

I started wearing 2 inch heels when I went back to work around 10 weeks post op.  That was almost a year ago.  There shouldn't be any limitations on wearing heels once you are fully recovered.  I'm now back to wearing all of my cute dress shoes.

Best of luck as you continue to recoversmile

Kimberly thank you I'm short so even little heels make me feel better. Have recovered really well fingers crossed.

Thank you for posting - I will follow this one!  I have a labral tear and advanced OA in my right hip.  I am trying some new NSAIDS but will go for a THR if I am not able to increase my activity level.  All the surgeons I consulted with told me I should have no problem with low impact dancing and frequent pivoting on the ball of my foot.  So I imagine heels would be ok.

    Hi Ann,

?At 3 months post op, I went to my nieces 18th birthday party, had a little dance but it was not comfortable so made sure I sat down them had a wiggle. In regards to heels, yes you will be able to wear them again, think it was around 5 months before I felt able to wear heels but took a pair of flats with me in case. We are all different though, I wore kitten heels too. Nearly two years post op and now can wear stiletto's on special occasion otherwise I am always in flats or low wedges.

Hello Ann, those heels certainly make us ladies feel better. I returned to work full time after 6 weeks and went straight back to heels ( only 2 inch). I personally had no problems and do at least 8000 steps during my working day. We are all different though but just take your time and watch where you are walking, avoiding uneven surfaces and I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck

Morning Ann!  I gave up my heels.  After a dislocation from my first hip replacement last July I've been leary about my shoes.  Like twisting the ankle because of stepping wrong.  But if you feel confident in your walking then try them out at home.  Best of luck to you. Hugs 🤗 Linda
