I am nearing 6 weeks after my right hip was replaced. I am wondering if i can ever wear trousers the normal way or should i always be seated to wear the trousers?

Hi meena not sure what you mean by the usual way ?

I've only worn trousers since my op. Leggings or soft trousers.

Do you mean do you have to be seated to put on the trousers?  If you've been going to physical therapy, they should be working with you to strengthen your thighs in order to lift up your leg to put it in the trousers.

Do you mean how to put the trousers on? if so I am 6 months post op and for the last 3 months have been putting trousers, leggings and jeans on from the standing position.  Hope that helps.

I can now pick my own leg up by itself. At eight months.but I have a balance problem so I do sit and put on my pants.at first I had to hold my leg with one hand the trousers the other.now I can put my own leg in wink own pants.I call that success.

After 6 weeks and the 90 degree bending rule is lifted, and provided your leg muscles are strong enough, then by all means put your trousers on standing up.  I did and everything is fine.

    Meena,

It's also easier to put your op leg in your trousers first, that way you don't have to lift that leg so high.
