Weber A ankle fracture

Anyone that has had a weber A ankle fracture, what is your experience with it?

I am 9 weeks into mine and my last x-ray revealed it was not healing very well so I am being referred to orthopaedic clinic.

Very worried and wondering if anyones took longer to heal, any complications etc. Thanks!

i fractured malleolis and tarsal bones twice.

1st time i had the long leg cast removed too soon, i was in constant pain. i spent many weeks in the stupid fracture boot that only made my bones weaker. so i re fractured it. i opted to avoid surgery because it would be invasive. i spent 3 months in full leg plaster and 3 months in below knee plaster.

while in the cast my ankle felt great, it healed well. just it's not very strong because of the ligaments.

so 9 weeks isn't that bad. only be careful if the bones moves. if the foot moves ask for a new cast. don't use the plastic boot.

Thanks for your reply. 6 months is so long to be in a plaster!!

I have only ever had the boot, never a cast. Now 10 weeks since it happened and I can walk on my foot but very stiff. The swelling is still bad. Feel as though it isn't very stable/feels like bone is moving abnormally. Hopefully the 12 week mark it will feel more secure as the orthopaedic referral is going to take a while.

      ouch

the boot is not as good as the proper plaster cast in my experience. my ankle was unstable and painful in it, instead with the cast it felt great.

with second fracture i started walking in the cast and was ok, i suggest to stop if the pains are sharp.

you should have complained about pains and.
